congratulations
names_for_rain !
She came to Kehh'renn for two hours - we had planned to meet up for much longer but the buses turned out to be totally arse so she ended up spending more than twice as long on an X4 bus than she did in the warmtn of the Earl Of Dalkieth (Wetherspoons pub!) - at least she has a new job to cheer her up though - yay!!! :-D
In future, whenever we meet up, it will either be in MK or somewhere easily accessible by public transport which means we can stay up late and I can drink as much as she can - woo-hoo!
Best things about Kettering: The red-brick19th century terraces which I think are really attractive; the fact there are lots of groups and societies of people willing to make a difference; quite good train links, friendly place with some very pretty old buildings; the Alfred East gallery; Odeon cinema, nice restaurants; big leaisure complex that I don't visit as much as I should; nearby villages and towns with lots of character - one village has its annual loopy day where people are encouraged to dress as rabbits, cut hedges ino strange shapes and do strange things for the day. Kehh'renn is also nicer than Corby and Wellingborough - hee hee! Oh, and I should mention Wicksteed Park too!
Bad things: No decent pubs; most bars are those that offer al-you-can-drink deals resulting in twats rioting and puking on the streets at 3am; some vindictive people in power who hate poor and unemployed people; a grotty town centre with boarded - up buildings, Kettering Leisure Village is Chav City; there is little to attract people there from out of town.
I'm off to a very posh do at Wicksteed Park tonight (inside the pavillion - sadly, the rides won't be open), so yesterday I went to Leicester to buy something to wear since I could find sod all in Kettering and Northampton. Ended up getting a glittery skirt for £10 - yay! Economy clothing rules! I hope tonight goes OK. all I know about it is, the tickets were offered to the editors of the Evening Telegraph, but they didn't want to go, so reporters were given them instead. Free wine and free dinner? It would be rude to refuse! My friends from work Holly and Anika will be there, and so will John, so it should be good!

Love the icon btw - looks like an old (uni days) cat we had called Baggio (he's now 12 years old and still living in Swansea and as silly and bog-brush tailed as ever!)
